Calderdale Parents and Carers are currently on the lookout for volunteer advocates to help support in delivering services to parent carers.
Advocacy involves supporting and empowering people to speak up for themselves and the role can include the following:
- attending meetings with the parent;
- supporting them to make complaints;
- helping them to find answers and information;
- practical support with writing letters or filling in forms.
It is absolutely vital that any applicants are able to work in a way which avoids advice-giving and uses a person-centred approach focusing on the wishes of the client.
Training for this role will run for 6 weeks (4 hour sessions each).
If you are interested in this role find out when the next round round starts by calling Lowri Dixon, Advocacy Project Officer on 01422 343090 or 07500594653.
